The Pit Wall

five companies from this week's research, one each for BSB, GB4, BTCC, British GT and British F4. They're the ones I'd be getting in front of now if I were running a team in that series, and every signal below is public.

Unlocking a company costs £10. You get the company named, the person to approach (name, role and LinkedIn) and the timing, plus an exclusive £50 off your first month of The Partnership Report, or £250 off a year.
BSB · No. 01

A British fintech

Financial services · Confidence: high

Growing fast, spending a steady share on marketing, and already a buyer of sport.

What we see

Its latest results show a business growing fast and more confident about the rest of the year.

Marketing is a standing line: by its own account it keeps it at a steady, sizeable share of revenue.

It already reaches its customers through sport, with more than one partnership, one renewed this summer.

Budget

Revenue guided above £250m for the year, and first-half marketing costs, which include broker commissions, of roughly £40m.

The line to aim at is the marketing budget behind its existing sport partnerships.

Timeline
A new sport partnership in late 2025 and two renewals in 2026. Half-year results in September, with guidance raised.

New leaders, higher profits, and customers who are young people starting out.

What we see

Its chief executive and its head of brand are both new in post this year.

It has a new commercial partnership this year aimed at young customers, and it already sponsors in sport.

Budget

Part of a large listed insurance group, whose half-year results this summer report higher profits from it.

Millions of policies sold since it launched. The line to aim at is its brand budget.

Food and drink · Confidence: high

A TV deal ending, a new managing director and a new budget year, all this autumn.

What we see

A long-term sponsorship deal is due to end this autumn, as announced at launch.

A new managing director started in September, hired from outside the business.

Its group's new financial year starts in November, as that deal ends.

Budget

Its group turned over more than £300m in its last reported year, with operating profit above £25m, and says it has continued to invest strongly in advertising.

The line to aim at is the brand budget behind the TV sponsorship.

Funds and profit up this year, a brand it has made a priority, and sponsorship named in the plan.

What we see

Brand is one of its stated strategic priorities, and its results this year name expanding sponsorship as part of how it builds visibility.

Client funds and profit both up on a year earlier at the half-year.

It already sponsors sport through more than one partnership, one of them announced this summer.

Budget

Client funds of well over £100bn, and half-year underlying profit above £100m.

Aim at the PR and sponsorship activity its results say it is expanding.

Telecoms · Confidence: high

A growing brand that is investing to go mainstream.

Those accounts name greater brand awareness, from its marketing and advertising investment, as one of the drivers of its growth.

Aim for the marketing budget that is paying for that new partnership.
